I hope this page will be useful to enthusiasts of both Bouvier’s and Bordeaux’s.  As two large breeds, their size, rapid growth rate and weight all can present an inherent predisposition to certain problems and conditions, which sometimes, despite best care, can spontaneously appear. The links provide access to a clear  explanation of development, treatment, and prevention of some problems which may be encountered in large breeds and will perhaps allay a little of the fear and mystery caused when a vet mentions a problem in largely un intelligible "vet speak".

It is worth noting that veterinary evidence is now strongly leaning toward Diet and Management in a puppy’s first year, as being the most significant factor in the development of many serious conditions. A little care, commonsense, control of exercise and  attention to diet will lay the foundations for a puppy’s long and healthy life.
